The Barbar Temple

A temple built to worship a cartoon elephant .... oh wait, no, that may be stretching it a bit.....

Actually it's a temple believed to have been built in three stages stretching from 3000 BC to 2000 BC to the god Enki, the god of wisdom and freshwater.

Burial Mounds

There are thousands of these burial mounds all over of island. This particular "graveyard" is alongside a highway on the edge of town. If you feel like it, you can read more on them here.

Khamis Mosque

Khamis Mosque is considered the most ancient Islamic building in Bahrain. They believe it was built about 717 A.D. and rebuilt in 1058 AD.

Manama Fishing Fleet

A large part of the local fishing fleet.

Of course you have to wonder if this fisherman is a wanna be suicide bomber....

Oil Refinery

Out in the middle of nowhere, one of the many refineries that keep this place from being just another deserted island.

And of course, your trip just isn't complete unless you visit.....

The Tree of Life

As seen from the main road.

The Tree in all its glory. Aren't you impressed? Of course you can't see the graffiti that's spray-painted on it.
If this was the only tree in the area, I might have been more impressed. There were a few more, smaller ones (albiet planted),
on the other side of the main road.
